Alcalá la Real has preserved its age-old traditions and adapted them for our times, but also introduced new festivities to its agenda.

The town’s lively and long-standing CARNIVAL celebrations are held every February; the NIGHT OF THE DRUMS is on 18th March during the bonres of San José; and 23rd June is the LA FIESTA DE SAN JUAN, when a witch egy is burnt. The FERIA CHICA DE SAN ANTONIO on 13th June and the FERIA REAL DE SAN MATEO in September complete the events calendar.

The town has recently added some new traditions during the summer months, such as ETNOSUR, a three-day event celebrating multi-cultural music, theatre and food and the MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL held in the La Mota Fortress.
