Lucena is famed for its artisans with their family traditions of creating art by hand stretching back generations.

Since Roman times, Lucena’s POTTERY has enjoyed widespread prestige, and the town still produces unique pieces based on Arab traditions with characteristic decoration and enamel; the pottery industry was once so important that it congregated together in the Barrio de las Tinajerías neighbourhood.

The town’s PRECIOUS METAL AND BRONZE workshops are equally prestigious, with the VELÓN DE LUCENA being the most traditional piece and the town’s symbol. The town also produces exquisite WORKS OF ART, most of which are related to sacred art and are used to adorn the floats used in Easter week processions all over Spain.
