Prehistoric Rock Art Trails, the Way of El Cid, Passion Trails, Emperor Charles V Routes and the Silver Route participate in the ITB Berlin.

March 05, 2019.- Cultural itineraries Prehistoric Rock Art Trails, Camino del Cid, paths of passion, Routes of Emperor Charles V y Silver Route Route They are participating from March 6 to 10 in a new edition of the Berlin International Tourism Fair (ITB Berlin) under the brand Cultural Routes of Spain.

Cultural Routes of Spain This initiative, supported by Turespaña, brings together the offerings of these five major routes that encompass a large part of Spain's cultural heritage. The itineraries included in these five routes pass through eleven of the seventeen autonomous communities: Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Cantabria, Castile-La Mancha, Castile and León, Valencian Community, Extremadura, Galicia, Murcia, and the Basque Country.

In a dedicated space located in the Turespaña pavilion, Cultural Routes of Spain It will showcase, to professionals and the general public, the tourist attractions of these itineraries whose thematic axes cover a large part not only of the geography but also of the history of Spain: Prehistoric Rock Art, the heart of Roman Hispania along the Silver Route, the literary and historical traces of El Cid Campeador in the Middle Ages, the Hispanic routes of Emperor Charles V in the Renaissance and the spiritual manifestations and popular traditions of Holy Week in southern Spain.

Participation in this fair reflects the commitment of these five routes to internationalization. To boost their marketing beyond Spain's borders, more than a dozen professional meetings are planned with leading European tour operators specializing not only in cultural tourism, but also in cycle and motorcycle tourism. The five routes that make up the Cultural Routes of Spain network are committed to establishing a strong presence in this market.

ITB is one of the most important trade fairs in the tourism sector and is considered one of the three most important fairs in the world, along with the World Travel Market (WTM) in London and the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid. Nearly 10.000 exhibitors from more than 180 countries participate each year in this event, whose visitor numbers increase with each edition, exceeding 160.000 in the last two years, including both professionals and individuals.  

Cultural Routes of Spain

El Cultural Route of the Council of Europe Prehistoric Rock Art Trails Spain boasts up to 86 major archaeological and rock art sites of great scientific, cultural, artistic, and archaeological interest, grouped into 12 routes that traverse the rural landscapes where this ancient art has been preserved. Currently, more than 1,5 million visitors come each year to the sites where the first inhabitants of our species (perhaps including Neanderthals) left us their groundbreaking rock art, an art form full of symbolism motivated by religious beliefs and replete with references to nature, which shaped the first cultural landscapes of the Iberian Peninsula.

La Silver Route Route It is a modern tourist route that runs through the west of the Iberian Peninsula, crossing 4 autonomous communities and 7 provinces on a south-north axis (Seville-Gijón) of almost 900 kilometers and more than 120.000 km2The Route boasts significant archaeological remains, the result of the passage of different cultures over 2.000 years, and a rich cultural and artistic heritage. This itinerary is also a journey through Spanish gastronomy and the ecological richness and diverse landscapes found on the Iberian Peninsula.

El Camino del Cid It is a 2.000 km cultural tourist route that crosses Spain from the interior of Castile to the Mediterranean coast of the Valencian Community following the literary and historical traces of El Cid Campeador: a medieval route where vast natural spaces and small towns with high historical and artistic value predominate.

The Routes of Charles V They propose a tour of Spanish municipalities linked to Emperor Charles I of Spain and V of Germany during his numerous visits to the Iberian Peninsula. The routes, which cover a total of 80 towns and cities in more than twelve countries, offer the opportunity to visit villages and areas of extraordinary natural beauty and to discover the deep-rooted culture of the people, reflected in their traditions, legends, and way of life.

paths of passion This tourist route delves into the geographical heart of Andalusia, passing through towns that have kept alive their passion for traditions and their historical, cultural, and artistic past. The itinerary covers ten essential locations in the Andalusian interior. Alcalá la Real, in Jaén; Baena, Cabra, Lucena, Priego de Córdoba, and Puente Genil, in Córdoba; and Carmona, Écija, Osuna, and Utrera, in Seville, offer the opportunity to experience the Andalusian way of life.
