The Paseo Alcántara Romero was built in 1848, during the mayorship of José Alcántara Romero. This expansive park is a beautiful example of 19th-century landscaping. Its grounds feature rare and highly ornamental species such as centuries-old sequoias, slender London plane trees, horse chestnuts, linden trees, sycamores, and countless other plant species of all kinds (trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, etc.). Its high biodiversity, the exceptional uniqueness of many of its plant specimens, the distinctive features of its architectural elements (such as the central esplanade of the "hall"), and the park's age make it one of the most outstanding green spaces in the province. Furthermore, it is listed as a "Unique Garden" and a "Unique Grove," containing numerous "Singular Trees," according to the provincial catalog.
