The Casino Liceo Mercantil, built in 1897, originated as a commission from Antonio López, known as Palomo, to house a new café. Construction was carried out by master builder Rodrigo García, who designed numerous buildings in Puente Genil.
The facade consists of three floors and the first floor is run along its entire length by a large balcony; the large windows are reminiscent of the facades of Venetian palaces from the Italian Renaissance.
