Fifteen activities spread across the ten municipalities and two complementary and novel ones such as the 'Mananta Quiz' game and an illustration contest make up the proposal
This morning, Caminos de Pasión presented a new edition of 'With Passion from Childhood,' a program that helps young children understand the customs and traditions associated with one of the most important festivals in Andalusia and its towns: Holy Week. Through the program, they will discover aspects related to the history, culture, music, crafts, and gastronomy not only of their own town but also of the ten towns that make up the Caminos de Pasión route.
The event was attended by the current president of the route and mayor of Lucena, Juan Pérez, who emphasized Caminos de Pasión's commitment "to promoting the heritage, customs, and traditions of our municipalities." He was accompanied by the Councilor for Education of Lucena, Teresa Alonso; the Councilor for Tourism of Puente Genil, Ana María Carrillo; her counterpart in Osuna, Yolanda García; and the manager of Caminos de Pasión, Encarni Giráldez.
Educational initiative
'With Passion from Childhood' is a truly unique experience that families or classmates can enjoy together. A total of fifteen activities These activities, spread across the ten municipalities, are aimed at Andalusian children aged between five and twelve. They will visit the brotherhoods' headquarters and museums; learn about the living tableaux performed in some towns; sample typical Holy Week and Lenten products; participate in music and costume workshops; and engage in crafts such as making Nazarenes out of EVA foam or preparing sacks for religious floats, among other activities.
During the presentation, Juan Pérez emphasized that “these activities are organized by the local Brotherhood Councils and Associations, as well as the Network of Holy Week Interpretation Centers along the Caminos de Pasión route. These centers include brotherhood houses, Holy Week museums, and thematic exhibitions that showcase the unique aspects of this important artistic, cultural, and religious tradition to visitors throughout the year in the towns along the route.” He also noted that many of these activities are coordinated and run by the youth groups of these associations.
Activities to be carried out
This new edition features some new activities and a refreshed look. In addition to the visits and workshops available in the different municipalities, Caminos de Pasión offers two complementary activities specifically designed for children, which have not been offered before.
The first of these is the 'Mananta Quiz' A game that schoolchildren can play as a complement to the program of activities offered in each town. It consists of a question-and-answer game, played in teams, in which they will learn interesting facts about all the towns along the Paths of Passion route. The aim is for the children to discover, in a fun way, the common characteristics of the ten towns and those that differentiate them, as well as to appreciate different aspects beyond the religious, such as history, religious imagery, music, and gastronomy.
Another new activity this year is the illustration contest. Open to all schools along the Caminos de Pasión route, the idea is for students to unleash their imaginations and express their vision of this celebration through a personal artwork. There will be three prizes, one for each primary school grade level, and students can use any technique they wish to depict a moment, brotherhood, event, etc., related to Holy Week in their town. As a prize, the winners, accompanied by an adult, will visit the Semana Santa Chiquita (Little Holy Week) in one of the towns along the route.
For its dissemination, it is planned to send the program by post to all schools in Andalusia, which amount to a total of about 2.300 primary schools.
