This square is where the town’s most important roads meet and new and old come together. The square features a bronze statue that pays homage to Joaquín del Pino Rozas, who was born in Baena in 1729. He marched towards the Americas, where he developed an extensive political and military career, and became governor, general captain and viceroy of Río de Plata. He is therefore considered to be one of the greatest men in the history of the Americas.
