This lagoon is located in the province of Córdoba, southeast of Lucena, some 200 metres north of the Laguna Amarga,at an altitude of 380 metres.

During the 1970s it was drained and dried out so that it could be exploited for farming purposes. It was later restored in the 1990s.

The lagoon is filled mainly by rainwater and it dries out during summer months.It is notably the lagoon with the least minerals in the province of Córdoba and is the only freshwater lagoon.

The following fauna can be observed: coots, black-headed gulls, herons, squacco herons and cattle egrets.
