The EASTER WEEK celebrations in Osuna, with their mixture of art, colour and smells and the narrow streets and monuments in which the processions take place, are unrivalled. The priceless carvings of religious images used in the processions made by artists such as Juan de Mesa, Vicente de Tena and José de Mora, together with the effort and commitment that the local people put into their most important religious festival, make these celebrations into a solemn spectacle which should not be missed.
The town’s patron saint, SAN ARCADIO, is honoured on 12 January. During THE ROMERÍA DE CONSOLACIÓN pilgrimage held on the last Sunday of April, the Sin Pecado de la Virgen image is carried in procession around the beauty spots which surround the town. In the rst week in September the town’s female patron saint is honoured with LA VELÁ DE NUESTRA SEÑORA DE CONSOLACIÓN.
